“”"”I am slightly confused as all my readings in last 4-5 days are below 5 including 3.6 in the morning 5:30 am.”"”
I mean they are below 4 except one 4.2 reading. Even lab test is below 4.

It sounds fine to me Utube.
You can leave it at that level and assure yourself that you are getting rid of any urate stores without any risk of an acute attack. Or else you can drop back to 200 mg. and see if that's enough. The second is a bit more risky because an attack is nothing to sneeze at if you guess wrong.
Personally, I think I'd opt for staying at the 300 mg. allopurinol level until at least a year has passed without an attack. Then titrate down if you wish.

Hi cjeezy,
I got the lab results and the UA level is 3.9 mg/dl. So far the levels have been consistent. I always have got tested in this lab at same time( 2 to 3 pm) and just before eating lunch.
My last 4 lab results in one month (taken generally a week apart) are – 5.1, 5.0( both at 250 mg), 4.4 and 3.9(both at 300 mg).
Last Monday(Sept 28), the value was 4.4 in the lab test.
I am on 300 mg for 11 days now.
How are your levels showing up?
Hi Utube,
I've checked my levels 4X in the past week and 1/2 and they dropped ranging from 3.2- 4.8. Ironically, the 3.2 came about after a night of 2 Margaritas, 2 Captain & Diets Cokes, 2 Corona's and 1 giant glass of water. Got me on that one

Wow,
Having TWO Margaritas AND TWO Captains in one night sounds like you have a pretty healthy sex drive. I guess promiscuity is good for lowering uric acid levels.

LOL! Sounds like a new thread- “Sex lowers UA!” Wonder how many hits that would get :)

Hi cjeezy,
Great UA levels while you enjoy drinks and sex
For me, it is now 16 days on 300 mg of Allop and the values in last 1 week have been mostly 3 to 3.6. I checked about 6 or 7 times. The range is 3.0 to 4.9( early morning reading).
However, I have not started on drinks. I am anyway very low meat eater and drinker. Max I have ever taken in my life at one time is 3 small beer or 2 glass of wine or 2-60 ml scotch. That is my max limit. I generally take couple of drinks some weekends, not always.
Ditto for meat. I generally eat more of white meat and sometimes red meat. It is just by choice not due to any health reasons.
My gout most likely got triggered due to stubbing my big toe( fracture)and my first in life taste of an exclusive sweet wine( damn it, I paid 120 dollars for 375 ml bottle).
By the way, my toe pain has improved a lot after using a sleeve for support. Points towards injury related residual pains.

Glad to hear your toe is improving. I would stick with your 300mg. I think I'm in the same boat as you level-wise. My plan is to go 1 year gout free, and then I “may” attempt 200mg. I've been trying to only test a few times a week max now, but interestingly enough, after I posted earlier, I went to lunch and for giggles tested after nearly fasting for 15 hrs (with the exception I ate a banana and drank some water and gatorade). Level was 3.2.
I also try to avoid red meat…however there are times I crave a Jack in the Box burger :) or Chipotle steak buritto. Next weekend I may try seafood for the first time and see how it impacts my level. Been dying for some Sashimi!!!
I have a question, did you say you had fluid pulled from your joint to diagnose you with gout? If I were you, I would be thrilled at your numbers! You'll probably never have another attack at that rate!

No, I never had my crystals pulled from the joint.
I also do crave sometimes for the red meat, my favourite being Lamb chop and Beef kabob…Though I eat them seldom, may be twice a month max.
If everything is fine, I will try out in moderation( I actually did but that was limited to a bite only).
And, yes I think we have good UA numbers and hopefully that would help prevent major gout attack.
I am also withdrawing from Colchcine and am on 0.6 mg tab on alternate days for last 10 days. If everything plays out as planned, I should stop it fully by this month end( that will make it 3 months of Colchcine to support Allopurinol treatment).

You may want to stop Colchicine now. I'm sure you'll be fine if you've been on it for 3 months solid. I stopped it entirely after about 2 weeks. Since your gout started at the same time as an injury, how does your Dr know that it is gout and not just pain from the injury? Just curious. What were your UA levels before AP?

Actually it was always confusing if the pain was due to gout or the injury. My gout pain was not like a typical gout. It took 3-4 days to settle it and it started as a slow pain that increased over a period of time. My thumb was not in much pain but the bunion joint was. I was able to move my thumb downward but not upward. Besides, I never had a pain while I was resting( though I had burning sensations in the bunion joint, which were severe in the first few days of injury). My pain used to come when I was walking, puting my foot down or pressing it.
My treatment for first 6-8 weeks was all messed up due to this. Then the treatment started at both the fronts at the same time. And it is still continuing.
My UA level was 9.2 before I started on Allopurinol.
