    hi,

Twice I've had a urinary infection, been treated with Ciprofloxacin, and had a gout attack shortly after the course of treatment was finished. Some research on Cipro found that it triggers gout about 1% of the time. Considering that about 1% of the population suffers from gout, that seems to be a pretty strong correlation. Has anyone else here noticed that Cipro triggered a gout attack?

    thanks, Mike.

No but a Z-pack started a mild attack for me once

Amazing…I have taken 4 of my 6 Z-pack (bronchitis) and I awoke with a fairly sharp flare. I walked it off and then it whacked me again for about a second. Gone now.  So there might be a connection.

(But truth be told, I also had 1.5 Liters of Cabernet yesterday.Confused)

    I've never taken ciproflaxin.

It turned out that after a fair walk, I started having trouble, intermittent  pain in instep and took 2 MORE colchicne, 4 allopurinol and a double dose of losartan (uricosuric BP med.)

All is calm today in spite of 7 beers yesterday.

I guess one is NEVER completely free of an attack risk.

Looking back, I had skipped 2 days of my allopurinol (and my Lipitor) becasue of fear of an interaction with the azithromycin, a strong macrolide with a propensity to mess with MANY other drugs.

It's the first time I've taken 4 colchicine in about a year (so I expect some diarrhea today.)

Unfortunately for me, Colchicine interacted horribly with the Z-pack and almost had me in the hospital (atleast the 8 Colchicine’s I took interacted badly). I posted on this a while back.
