I also have been on antibiotics for an ear infection and just read thats bad for gout.

I think I may be losing my flippin' mind!

Is there anything I CAN DO OR HAVE anymore?

    Okay – I feel better now.laugh

    Eric,

    ?

I wouldn;t worry about a 10 day course of antibiotics.

    ?

With the 300 mg. allopurinol and the 2 colchicine a day, how is your pain control? Symptom free?

    ?

but also kind of scary that i am dictating my treatment.

    ?

Tell me about it: I've been doing it for decades and now, thanks to an insurance change I need a NEW staff of doctors to “train.” I am so dreading this.

    ?

I once spoke to a professor of medicine?who said the key to a long happpy life is to find the one doctor in 100 who knows what he is doing?I'm still looking.

As scary as it is to take complete control of our own health the upside is that at least then the person in control GIVES A SCHYTTE.

My pain is a lot better, but hardly pain free. Still have the morning stiffness and there is ALWAYS a certain amount of pain. The only time I honestly feel completely pain free is at night when I take a few pain meds and have my feet up and massage one of my creams on my feet. If I just sit there, sometimes its bliss. My friends don?t understand why I am so anxious to get home sometimes, but that?s why.

I think we can all relate to that.

This Colcrys gout topic is now closed.

It covers several variations on a Colcrys for gout theme, including:

    • Can you take Colcrys and allopurinol together?
    • What is Colcrys 0.6 mg used for?
    • How does Colcrys work for gout?
    • Colcrys complaints

Colcrys is a United States brand name for colchicine. Unless you are looking for help with the cost of buying Colcrys, you are better referring to colchicine if you want help about treating gout.

I will move the relevant parts of the discussion to a new common questions section, as time allows. In the meantime, you can easily search for current discussions, or start a new discussion.

You can find the search box at the top of every page, or at the foot of the right-hand sidebar. Even easier, please use the gout search page.

For complete Colcrys information, please see the colchicine guidelines

I wonder if it was news of my 10 year celebrations that made the authorities take note 😉

Whatever, the good news is that generic colchicine is back, so I’ve reopened this thread from @darrenbruin

Thanks also to @limpy for raising issues about Colcrys price. I think there’s a similar discussion about colchicine costs, and I’ll probably reopen that as well. Also, thanks to everyone else who contributed.

We have a branded alternative to Colcrys – Mitigare – and now we also have generic colchicine from Prasco Pharmaceuticals. Who’s buying cheaper alternatives to Colcrys now?

What are you paying? How much will you save in 2015 compared to earlier years?

Most important of all, when are you going to get uric acid safe, so you never need gout pain relief?
