I cannot give medical advice, as I am not qualified. I can give general advice about gout and it’s treatments. I can also share my own experiences, but note that gout varies widely from person to person and so your profile may be completely different.

It is not enough simply to rely on one uric acid test, as levels rise and fall through the day, and from day to day. You should look for a falling average that eventually stabilizes below 6mg/dL.

It is best to discuss this with a rheumatologist. They are in the best position to analyze your condition and suggest specific goals and treatments. Their advice will depend on a proper assessment of the severity and possible causes of your gout.

Without that information, it is impossible to give any specific advice.

If you do not understand any of the advice you are given, I can try to explain it. Please call again with any specific questions that you might have.

Good luck, Davendra.

Be sure to get clear explanations for all advice.

Some family doctors are very good with gout, and have studied all the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment.

Others are not so good, and many doubt their own ability with gout. As I mentioned in my post about gout and doctors, only rheumatologists are 100% confident
