Medco online pharmacy advised me that they will be shipping my script next Tuesday, at the usual price!

Sounds good. What's the “usual price?”

My co-pay through BCBS is $20 for a 90 day supply… that's 180 pills.

If my docotr and pharmacist EVER manage to connect, I will get 90 pills at Target for $10.
edit: HOORAY, they connected, and I got my 90 pills at Target Pharmacy (from the LAST bottle) for $10. That gives me a total of about 140 and should get me well into my dotage.
I strongly recommend anyone here call his doctor and arrange for an Rx call-in after making sure the called pharmacy has some in stock. Gee, I've never lived through a black market before.

Colchicine is being shorted to pharmacies by wholesalers who are unable to get it from the manufacturer. I have seen this before when one company buys up all of the raw material to create a shortage and artifically inflate the price. It is no coincidence that COLCRYS 0.6 MG TAB came to market recently with a cost to my pharmacy around $490.00 per 100 and generic colchicine which used to cost $8.00 per 100 is no longer available. Do the math and see where the problem lies. Big business (ie Wall street)finding a loophole to charge 500 times more for the same ingredient I just wish I had seen this one coming cause I could have hedged my losses with some stock purchase. This is a prime example of too little regulation on issues concerning healthcare.

The colchicine supply chain used to be quite diverse, with several manufacturers feeding various distribution channels.
As far as I can tell, URL Pharma has now stopped all generic manufacture with legal threats that no producer is prepared to fight (clearly the margins on generics cannot be huge, but ltigation costs can be).
I guess it is inevitable that some distributors will have stockpiled a few months supply. In fact, URL Pharma may well have encouraged this as it diffuses the anger if the restrictions hit gradually rather than all the people who rely on colchicine getting hit at once.
