You can order a gout monitoring kit, which comes with some testing strips. It is probably a good idea to get at least one extra pack of strips at the same time. If you are as enthusiastic as me about testing your uric acid level, you will use them quite quickly, especially when you first get it. You need one strip for each test, and they are not reusable, but they are quite cheap.

The unit is very easy to use, and the kit includes everything you need to perform your own tests, except perhaps for a paper towel to wipe your finger after testing. The test is painless and very quick.

I don't know where you've seen them at 40 to 50 dollars. Perhaps you could share this information with the rest of us. If they are readily available at that price, I might be able to arrange US shipping.
