Pointers to important gout information especially facts and reference material.

A new section, so please tell me what gout info you would like to see here.

I’m kicking off with the most important number for gout sufferers – the uric acid level in your blood. This is the most important information on gout that you need to know.

In your  painkiller note about Ibuprofen you mentioned that the Gel was pricey.

I bought some just now @  £3:99 – in local chemist.     [5% strength; Made by:   Care+]

This may be less than when you last looked- but not unreasonable [for 50g] these days.

I asked if the blue gel capsules (of the same medicine) could be split and applied  topically (can't remember the name) and got some really odd looks!

Little do they know what goes on… especially when you've run out of options in the middle of the night!

Well it doesn’t sound like a fortune, but you’d probably need a tube a day for serious gout relief (usual warning to check with your doctor first). Costs can soon mount when compared to equivalent tablet cost.

Please let us know how you get on with it. Besides the cost, I get a bit fed up of the mess and sticky feeling.

If it suits you, there is a 100g tube available for £1.99 (http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/5-ibuprofen-gel_1_10169.html). Only trouble is, delivery is £2.75 unless you spend £40, when it becomes free.

Note that for the same price you can get 84 400mg tablets.
