After riding 30 miles every day (15 each way) to work for the last week, I am happy to report that I have not gotten an attack. I was originally concerned (as discussed in another thread) that exercise might cause an attack to happen but so far things are feeling great…..

…well…great is probably the wrong word. My ass hurts like you cant believe. I think I have two permanent bruises from that seat. But my spirits are high and my big toe feels normal!

Ass Gout is reputed to be the absolute WORST kind…fortunately its rare. That's why Henry VIII had to give up his bicycle.Wink

Well…..I cheered too soon.

Last couple days I have been feeling my big toe getting achey. Not quite a full-on attack – but enough to let me know I am still a goutie. Fortunately I can bend it without pain so riding is still possible.

I did have two cheap beers (Pabst Blue Ribbon) on Friday night, but my diet has been good otherwise. The only thing different is that I added chocolate back into my diet.

I kinda hope it is the exercise causing my numbers to rise and not a more serious problem.

Ugh. Frustrating.

Hard excercise destroys many muscle cells and releases copious uric acid from their nuclei. Just expect the excess urate and remove it with a little more allopurinol rather than cutting down on your exercise…that would be criminal.Cry Try a little test…do a brutal bike ride immediately before you go to the doctor for a blood draw…that info might be very valuable.

Perhaps we all need these twinges just to REMIND ourselves that we still have IT!
