How can I improve my gout support services?

0 like 0 dislike

GoutPal.com should help you learn all about gout, and how to deal with it. GoutPal Interactive (this website) should allow you to ask personal questions about how that information applies to you. It is also a place to share your experiences and opinions in order to improve the information available to fellow gout sufferers.

I have many gout-related topics that I am working on. So many, that I keep them on a separate GoutPal Work-In-Progress website. I work on these topics as time allows, and publish summaries on GoutPal.com, or I raise discussions on GoutPal Interactive if I find issues that I cannot resolve.

But I am most interested in the issues that affect you. What would you like to work better? What would you like to see that is not here yet? Vote for the answers below, and I will work on the features that get most votes. If you cannot see what you want, add it as an answer to my question - how can I improve my gout support services?

List of posts by members. In the old-style gout forum, limpy asked "I think it would be great to be able to look up someones name on a members list and check out their old posts." This used to work, but does not at the moment. I am planning to re-introduce it soon. Vote if this is important to you. The more votes it gets, the quicker it gets done.

Private messaging would be nice. Limpy asked for it and Hans noted, "I, personally, had some PM's with 3 or 4 gouties in the past which were very, very interesting, positive, wholesome, instructive, constructive, and refreshing."

I am planning to re-introduce it soon, as a private discussion service. Vote if this is important to you. The more votes it gets, the quicker it gets done.

 Wishlist

1. When returning to a thread you have been following, an icon or something indicating new posts, then it opens up on the last post you have viewed, not the last post in the thread, as it is currently. Can't remember if GP used to do this; most forums do.

It has not been a part of the forums here, but it is doable. However, for the growing band who read the posts via email, and click on the ones that interest them most, it is largely irrelevant.

This form allows you to get posts delivered to your email box. I'll look at going straight to first unread post when I upgrade the user features.

2. Name of original poster and last poster visible on thread/forum subsection title page

Lates poster is included in the forum index. I have not finished all these yet, but the Gout Diet Forum index is almost complete. The question and answer list needs a small tweek to add the authors name, and this is imminent. I cannot see the value of the orinal poster name, but if you want it, add comments why it is useful, and vote this up.

Improve the allopurinol dosage information to include better details of what to do if you miss a dose. Include more patient information leaflet samples if possible, and summarize main points covered.

Thanks to Curioser's Being careless with allopurinol? question for prompting this.
