How I Answer Your Gout Questions
This website exists to discuss your gout questions.
I also run GoutPal.com, my gout information website, where I summarize new information. I only change that site when I have new, verified information that will help you understand and manage gout. If you cannot find the information you need, then there are several ways you can ask questions.
Many questions have been asked before. Here is a sample of some recently asked questions:
Those questions were asked by people using search engines. I monitor how search engines find the site, and if I think I can add a little more information, or summarize existing information in a more accessible way, then I write a gout answer (click on that link to see them all). You can find earlier topics by typing keywords into the search box on the right.
The best questions are ones that you ask directly, and the more information you give, the better answer you will get. There are three ways you can ask questions (besides using the search features):
- 1. Gout Forum
- This is the best way to ask questions. It is seen instantly by other gout sufferers as soon as you post it. They might be able to answer your question immediately. The gout forum is the first place I look when I switch my computer on. If I can answer you straight away, I will. Sometimes I have to do some research first, but all the while, your question is there for anyone to answer.
- 2. Blog Comments
- Nearly all my articles here, have a comment box. You can add a question, and like the forum, it will be displayed (usually) instantly for anyone to see. Unlike the forum, you do not need to register to post a comment. I try to check and answer these daily, but sometimes I miss the odd one if my reporting system gets swamped. Please see notes on comments below.
- 3. Contact Forms
- There is a contact form here (see Contact near the top of every page) and several on GoutPal.com. These messages go straight to my email inbox, but if you already have my email address, from previous correspondence or from the gout newsletter, it is better to use ordinary email. If I can, I answer them straight away. I have to confess that I miss some occasionally. Far too frequently, it takes me several days, sometimes weeks, to get an answer out to you. I frequently have over 100 messages to respond to (just checked now, and it’s
142227). If you don’t get an answer immediately, please be patient.
Note on blog comments
These are really designed to add additional information, sharing your point of view, within a few days of the original post. I do not check all comments, though I try to. If you see an inappropriate comment, I would be obliged if you draw it to my attention using one of the other contact methods.
Though you can ask questions on comment boxes, I might not see them. If your question is important to you, the best place is always the forums. Unless I am away, you will always get an answer within a day or so.
I’d like to warn those people who like to leave spammy messages promoting their own websites, but add nothing to the debate. Not only will you get yourself banned from here, but you will also be filtered by the thousands of websites that share my filtering system. I am very open to helping other website owners, but not if you pollute my website.
