    Afternoon

I was recently diagnosed with Gout and have been on been on a course of Allopurinol for the past 2 months.

I have been training for a big cycle event in July and due to a couple of gout attacks earlier in the year I am a bit behind in my training.

I really need to lose about 10lbs in the next 6 weeks and want to introduce a low carb diet during the week and then eat carbs the day before my race days.

I have read that a low carb diet can increase the risk of an gout attack however I thought I would ask for myself rather than rely on other sources.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,

It’s all about your uric acid levels.

I hope you’ll return, log in to GoutPal, then let us know your recent uric acid test results. Or would you like me to explain why the affect of low carb diets on gout is different for every gout sufferer?
